LEARNING HOW TO TEACH

The secrets & strategies of teaching dance

In Phase 1 we covered the basics of the VXN format including the technique, correct execution, understanding movement and the components of a VXN class. In Phase 2, we will transition from how to properly execute the format, to the skills and strategies I use in my classes that make me a successful teacher.

WHY YOU NEED THIS COURSE

Being a skilled dancer does not necessarily mean that you will be an amazing teacher, and you can be a great teacher without being a great dancer. Why? Because dancing and teaching dance require completely different sets of skills.

Teaching dance is about understanding how others learn. It is less about dancing and more about the ability to take a dance, conceptually formulate it, and explain how one has developed the necessary skills to do that dance and lead others to do the same. In order to do this you must have an understanding of best practices when it comes to presentational methods, teaching strategies, and how to integrate all of this with music.

This course is designed to provide you with the tools and strategies that I use in my classes so that you, too, can feel confident leading a class while creating a supportive learning environment where everyone feels successful.
